Monthly payments, JEA's rebate and the tax-credit calendar, in that order
A replacement in Duval County is rarely planned. Financing turns a bad week in July into a monthly line you can live with, and the rebates that still exist get handled on our paperwork, not yours.

What a payment plan changes for a Jacksonville replacement
Half of this city’s houses were built after 2000, and the systems that went in with them are failing on a schedule. When yours goes, the choice is usually between patching a 2006 unit again or replacing it with equipment that will cut the JEA bill every month for the next fifteen years. Financing exists so that choice isn’t decided by whatever is in checking that week.
Cook’s offers financing with low monthly payments on new high-efficiency systems. The practical effect for a Baymeadows or Oceanway homeowner is that a higher-efficiency Lennox unit, the kind that clears the rebate line and runs quieter and drier, becomes a modest difference in the monthly figure rather than a lump-sum jump.
JEA’s rebate lands on the invoice
JEA, the municipal utility that serves Duval and parts of the neighboring counties, runs a Heating & Cooling rebate of $200 for an ENERGY STAR central air conditioner, heat pump or ductless mini-split that meets its Tier 1 threshold, which for a split system is 16 SEER2, 11.0 EER2 and 8.0 HSPF2. The rebate is applied on the contractor’s invoice, which means Cook’s handles the submission and you see the credit on the paperwork rather than waiting for a check.
Two things to know. First, the 2026 program year stopped accepting applications on October 10, 2026, and the next cycle’s dates are not yet published; we’ll confirm what’s open before you commit. Second, JEA separately offers a $50 rebate on an ENERGY STAR smart thermostat and runs an HVAC tune-up program, both of which can ride along with a replacement.
Where the federal credit stands now
For several years a federal tax credit helped Jacksonville homeowners buy high-efficiency heat pumps. That credit, known as 25C, expired on December 31, 2025. Whether any replacement incentive, state program or Lennox manufacturer promotion applies at the moment you sign is something we will state on the written quote rather than imply here. Nassau and Baker: a different utility, a different rebate
Outside JEA’s footprint the math changes. Yulee and Callahan homes may be on FPL or Okefenoke REMC. In the Baker County portions served by Clay Electric, the Energy Smart program has paid a $250 heat pump rebate for members installing a unit of at least 15 SEER. Tell us which utility bills you, and the quote will reflect the right program.
What we won’t put on this page
No lender’s name, no interest rate, no term length and no monthly figure. Those depend on the equipment, the application and the lender’s current offer, and a number printed here would be wrong for someone. What you’ll get instead is the full set of terms in writing before anything is signed, and a plain answer to any question about them.
Paying for a system in Jacksonville
Does financing cover the ductwork rework an old Riverside house usually needs?
Yes, when it’s part of the installation quote. In a 1920s bungalow the duct and return changes are often what makes the new equipment work, so we write them into the same job rather than treating them as an extra you pay for separately.
The JEA rebate window closed in October. Does that mean I should wait for the next one?
Not if the system has failed. A dead compressor in August costs more in misery than the rebate is worth. If the old unit is limping and the timing is flexible, we’ll tell you what we know about the next program year and let you decide.
Can a commercial account in Southside finance a rooftop unit?
Commercial financing is a different conversation from residential, with different paperwork. Ask when you call and we’ll lay out what’s available for a business rather than guess on this page.
Does applying for financing slow down the install date?
It shouldn’t. The application is handled while the equipment is being ordered and the permit is in process, so a decision usually arrives before the crew is scheduled.
Want the numbers before you decide?
Estimates on new systems are free. Call and we'll walk the house.
